Tenley Armstrong
Tenley is an Associate General Counsel with Southern Company Services and has served as the company’s chief litigation counsel since 2019. Prior to joining Southern Company, she spent 12 years an associate and partner at Lightfoot Franklin & White. She attended the University of Alabama, where she received degrees in law and business administration.
Tenley and her husband, Nick, have two children, ages 5 and 7, and two loving but poorly-behaved dogs. She and her family attend Cathedral Church of the Advent, where their children also attend school. She has served on the Junior Board of the YWCA.
Why have you decided to serve as a Torchbearer for the JLB?
Becoming a mother made me realize how lucky I am to have access to resources and relationships that allow my children to grow up in a loving, stable home. The events of the past year have made it impossible to ignore the effect privilege has had on my circumstances. One Place gives Birmingham a chance to level the privilege playing field for all families.
What/who inspires you to be a Light in our community?
I am inspired by the long line of successful torchbearers and the chance to set an example for my children of investing in our community.
