Why have you decided to serve as a Torchbearer for the JLB?
I love the impact of the Junior League on the greater Birmingham community.  If you really pay attention, you’ll see that this group of women – past and present – has consistently worked to make the lives of those in our community better – particularly, women and children.  They’ve done this through smaller projects like diaper drives and through larger impact projects like support of the rape response program and its mobile food pantry.  The fact that the JLB has chosen One Place as the beneficiary of its centennial campaign will be life changing for those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.  It will give these women a comfortable place to get the help they (and, often, their children) desperately need in their worst moments.  I’m honored to do my small part to continue this torch and help make the vision of One Place a reality through the Junior League’s support.

What/who inspires you to be a Light in our community?
I just believe it’s what we’re all called to do – to be a light in the darkness for someone - to be one small part of a much bigger whole that’s working together to make the world a little brighter.  I see lights around me every day and I’m grateful for each and every one of them.
