Why have you decided to serve as a Torchbearer for the JLB?
I have decided to serve as a Torchbearer for the JLB because I consider giving back and contributing to the city that I call my hometown an honor and a joy.  The Torchbearer model was conceived by Junior League member Lindsey Tanner on the back of a napkin four years ago and has since won awards and followers across the country.  It is a fundraising model that combines a grassroots model of community engagement and education that I truly believe in and that I believe will propel this particular cause to the forefront of our community, where it needs to be acknowledged.  I believe that this campaign can be a "community of lights" that raises our torches to help others find a way out of darkness.  Let's don't forget that 100% of the money raised for this campaign goes directly to the cause--no administrative costs.  That is unheard of!

What/who inspires you to be a Light in our community?
I am inspired by the women in our community.  That begins with the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.  They are the brave ones to whom we raise our torch.  I am also inspired by those that have carried this torch before me--Allison Cornelius, Lucy Marsh and Tyler Novak.  These women set a high standard in community engagement to which I am honored to be a part of.  I am inspired by Lindsey Tanner, who took on this project four years ago and continues to see it through far beyond her expected involvement. Finally, I am inspired by my children.  While they are too young to understand the specifics of the cause that this campaign represents, I have promised them a reward if I can meet my goal of raising $10,000.  Stay tuned..."
