Zachary A. Mather is a Senior Vice President in the Casualty division of CRC Insurance, one of the largest wholesale insurance brokers in the country.
Zach is a member of Independent Presbyterian Church. He also volunteers his time as a coach and commissioner with a variety of youth sports organizations through Mountain Brook Athletics.
Originally from Virginia, Zach received his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Virginia. He moved to Birmingham 16 years ago with his wife Kate, a Birmingham native. They have three children: Will, 12; Julia, 10; and Griffin, 6.
Why have you decided to serve as a Torchbearer for the JLB?
My wife, Kate, has been involved with the Junior League for many years, so I’ve heard about this project since its inception. The idea that victims of abuse would have to jump through so many different hoops to get the help and care they need is heartbreaking. I believe that One Place will have the ability to fill a huge void in our community, and I am honored to be a part of this important effort.
What/who inspires you to be a Light in our community?
My three children inspire me everyday to set an example and to do what is right not only for them, but for the community we live in. We all share in the responsibility to help make Birmingham a better and safer place for all of our residents.
