Why have you decided to serve as a Torchbearer for the JLB?
I am honored to have been asked to be a part of this significant project and vision of my friends at the Junior League of Birmingham to support One Place Metro Alabama Family Justice Center in such a meaningful way.  Although I have not been personally impacted by domestic violence or sexual assault, through my work with Volunteer Lawyers Birmingham, I have become increasingly aware of the size and extent of this problem – there are so many who face interpersonal violence as their reality every day.  These individuals critically need the help and support provided by One Place.  By serving as a Torchbearer, I am able to create additional awareness of this need throughout my network.

What/who inspires you to be a Light in our community?
There cannot be a more community-focused, service-oriented, generous place than Birmingham – anywhere.  I am constantly amazed at the selfless mindset of the people here and the dedication of folks to rally behind good causes that are important to the future of our community, like the Community of Lights Centennial Campaign.  This selfless mindset, spirit of giving and all of the “Birminghamians” who demonstrate that mindset and spirit inspire me to be a Light.  Collectively, our Light is burning very brightly!
