Tyler Novak attended Washington and Lee University and majored in Mass Communications and European History.  After college, she spent a year studying fine and decorative arts at Christie’s in London.  Following the year at Christie’s, she attended the University of Alabama School of Law.  After graduating from law school, she worked at King & Spalding in Atlanta in the Mergers and Acquisitions group.  After a few years, she became engaged to her now husband, moved to Birmingham and worked for Maynard Cooper and Bradley in the corporate groups.

In 2011, she left private practice to go in house, first as General Counsel at Books-A-Million and now as General Counsel at EBSCO Industries, Inc.

She is married to Tabor Novak, who is also an attorney, and has two girls, Chiles (age 8) and Carter (age 5).

Why have you decided to serve as a Torchbearer for the JLB?
Having learned about One Place and the impact it has had and will continue to have in our community, I am honored to help support the Junior League of Birmingham in raising money for this amazing center and campaign.  I truly believe that the funds raised for One Place will serve to greatly improve our community.

What/who inspires you to be a Light in our community?
My mother-in-law, Caroline Novak, inspires me to serve as a Light for our community.  She has worked tirelessly for 30 years to improve education in Alabama and to ensure that children throughout the state are afforded opportunities through education to thrive and become successful members of our community.  I hope that my work on this campaign will also serve to help members of our community.
